Our History

Picture

After contracting with Sears and ASI for over 20 years, Ernie Donati decided to open The Counter-Fitters in 1987. Our original shop was located in a small building on Summer Ave. In no time the business grew and he moved the shop to a larger area on Broad Ave, our current location. With over 50 years of experience, Ernie has a reputation for being a perfectionist in all his work and stands by what he fabricates.

The company has been operated by family now for several years. We take pride in our work providing quality and satisfaction to every customer, fabricating and installing our countertops. We specialize in custom countertops but also offer a wide range of services.

Please call us if you have any questions regarding our products and pricing.

How to measure for your countertops:

1.  First determine the depth ( front to back measurement).  Standard base cabinets are 24" and standard post form laminate countertops are 25" which allows for a 1" overhang on the front.
2.  Measure the length of each counter section using the back wall.  Be sure to mark each top with the correct depth measurement so we know whether it is a standard top or bar top (open on both sides).  If you have an "L" or "U" shaped countertop, measure from the end all the way to the corner in the back.  If you have an "L" or "U" shaped countertop with one of the tops being a bar top please note that on your drawing.  Bar tops are 26", 30", or 36" standard size.
3.  To find the sink center, measure from the end of your countertop to the CENTER of your sink or sink base cabinet.  Note whether you have a single, double, or triple bowl sink.  Do this also for cooktop cutouts.
4.  Please note whether a cap or side splash will be needed on the ends of the countertops.  Caps are put on the visible sides of countertops.  Ends that are against the wall or oven cabinet have a set on side splash.
5.  Let us know if you do or don't want backsplashes.  Sometimes, depending on the material, it is either included in the price or can be more or less.
6.  Call us if you have any questions!
